Christmas in Connecticut

Well let me just start off by wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

This year was the first in 22 years that I was not with my family in NJ. I spent this Christmas in Connecticut with My Fiancé and her family, and also with my sisters and neices and nephews.

I will admit Christmas was not quite the same, but I really enjoyed spending it the way I did this year. For New Years Jamie and I are heading down to NJ for a party, and we are also going to celebrate Christmas for a second time at my Mom's house.

It is snowing here in CT. We are expected to get about 16 to 20 inches of the white stuff!! I will say though, I am not as excited about snow this year because of my back. I cannot Ski, and I cannot shovel... Good thing we have a snowblower and a garage!!

Until Next time!

Relocation

Wow, it's been awhile since I have posted on here. I guess its time for a little update. I have decided that I am going to move to Connecticut. My sister has been nice enough to give me a place to stay until my father sells our house in New Jersey, and buys one in Connecticut. I can't even explain how happy I am to be moving up to CT. I have been away from both of my sisters for far too long, and not to mention my niece, and nephews. I am happy that I will be able to be a bigger part of there lives. My last day of work in New Jersey is June 3rd, and I am starting work in Connecticut on June 7th. I have so much stuff left to do. I need to do a massive amount of laundry, packing, and writing a list so I don't forget anything.... even though I will be down here often to help my Dad with the house. Even though my Dad wont be moving for about a year, it is in my best interest right now to move, this way I can establish residency for school, and learn where everything is, that way I dont have to rely on directions from my family forever. I am sure this move will be complete culture shock... but I think it is completely worth it.

Well thats all I have for right now...

Power outages, and walls

Hey everyone,

Im sure you have all heard by now that Ocean and Monmouth Counties were hit my a massive coastal storm. The winds were close to 70 miles an hour at some times and the rain was torential. Luckily I was in Barnegat for the day inside and didn't have to go out in the rain, but let me tell you... this was quite a storm.

I came home around 5 O'clock to find out that the power had been out since around 3pm, and that 2 telephone polls were down on Route 9, In front of the Forked River House. I went to Schianos Pizzeria to get some dinner for my family, and the word there was that power would not be restored until the following morning!!! Can you believe that, no power for over 12 hours!!

Once I got home, we basically just sat in the living room with our oil lamps on and though about playing cards. Then I thought to myself, "WAIT A SECOND, I CHARGED MY LAPTOP LAST NIGHT!!" AHA!!! I had found my outlet! As soon as I had realized that my Macbook Pro was charged with a full battery I literally ran to my room, albeit walking into a few walls.... yeah... thats gonna leave a mark!

So here I am, Laying on the couch in my bedroom, two dogs laying at my feet, watching Adventureland on my laptop... Finally, something to curb my insanity driving boredom.

No later than about 3 hours after, the power came back on and all order was restored. That is, except that the fact that the furnace ran for what felt like an eternity.... it turns out my uncle thinks that turning the thermostat past 80 while the power out as going to help.....uhhh no...

So basically, in hindsight, if your power ever goes out... do not touch the thermostat... because It doesnt work...

and finally, do not walk without some form of light, I.E. a cellphone, or a candle because you will run into walls hahahah

Thats it for now folks, talk to you soon!

First Blog

Hello Bloggers,

I have previously written blogs on here, but I have deleted them because I was never consistent. I figured I would start fresh. Lets get to it.

My name is Ryan, I am 21 years old and I am a full time Certified Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens Pharmacy. I am also pursuing a degree in Biology, Pre-Med. School has taken awhile to get back into, and I am not going to declare myself as a full time, or part time student, as I have taken this semester off to refocus, and get into a better student mentality.

I am also on a diet, called Medifast. I started Medifast on February 3rd, 2010. I have struggled with weight issues my whole life, and this year I decided to tackle the problem and I am more determined than ever. You may see me write about my life, my diet, friends, and my hobbies.... but hey.. that is what blogging is all about. Writing to express how you are feeling so you do not internalize and become stressed, and let me tell you... stress is not fun.

What else is there to know, hmm....

I am an Eagle Scout, and an active adult leader in the troop I have been in since I was a child, I enjoy skiing, camping, hiking, geocaching, taking vacations, road trips, movies, museums, and I also enjoy just relaxing at home with my Jack Russell Terriers.

That basically sums up my about me... I hope I will be able to write in here at least a few times a week.

Until then,
Ryan
